Shawna Ebbeson, M.S.
Shawna Ebbeson has over 30 years of experience caring for children and is a Walden University Alumnus. She has earned an MS in Early Childhood Studies and a graduate certificate in Teaching Adults in Early Childhood Field. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) specializing in Early Childhood Education. Once her doctorate is confered, Shawna intends to complete graduate certificates in Digital Marketing, Curriculum and Design, as well as Child Psychology.
Shawna has developed family child care courses for Penn Foster, as well as independent courses aimed to support the personal and professional growth of children and adults of all ages. These courses include business essentials, 21st century skills, babysitting essentials, Minecraft servers for learning, as well as professional development courses designed for child care providers.
Shawna attends several conferences and Walden doctoral residencies every year and reviews workshop presentation proposals for national NAEYC conferences.
She homeschools her youngest child, and has authored several children's books that are based on or inspired by actual field research. She has developed Read-2-Me Buddy Bags, designed to promote early literacy. Shawna has visited child care programs and children's hospitals in Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Iowa to read her published books to further contribute to early literacy. She lives in Eastern Iowa with her husband and their youngest of five children.
